Make Your Own Floral Stationery

Gather your friends in the garden to make the most of your flowers and create something special together. Have everyone use real blooms to create their own beautiful and inexpensive handmade cards. When you’re finished, you’ll each have a unique set of note cards that you can share with each other.

Making Floral Stationery
Step 1: Invite Your Friends
Plan an entertaining, artistic afternoon with friends. Since this handmade card project calls for fresh-cut flowers, encourage them each to bring a few of their favorite blossoms.
Step 2: Gather your Materials
About a week before your get-together, use this Floral Stationery Materials List to help you start gathering your supplies. This crafts project calls for daisies or other sturdy flowers with distinct petals, so you may want to hold off on buying them until just before your party, since you’ll want your flowers to be fresh.
Step 3: Prepare Treats
No party is complete without something delicious to munch on! Make your get-together a true garden party with tea and some light afternoon snack food. You can find delightful recipes for Chai Tea Cupcakes and Cucumber Pizzas in this article on how to throw a Light and Fun Tea Party, or if you prefer coffee, try the recipes for Biscotti and Cinnamon Coffee Scones found in this article on Coffee Flavored Treats.
Step 4: Protect Your Workspace
Just before your friends arrive is the time to set up a place to paint. Choose a table or other hard surface and cover it with newspaper or plastic to guard against spills. If the weather is nice, you may want to make your stationery in your outdoor spaces.
Step 5: Make Stationery Together

  1. Pour your paint into shallow dishes that are wider than the blooms on your flowers.
  2. Lightly dip the blossom of your flower into the paint and carefully press it like a stamp onto the cards to create a beautiful floral image. If you can’t see distinct petals, try removing excess paint by pressing your flower on a blank piece of paper before using it on your card. You can also try applying paint to the petals of your flower with a paintbrush. hm body img hm 02 july08
  3. Have fun with your handmade cards. Try stamping a single bloom in the center of the paper or add more to create a pattern. You can also experiment with different colors for interesting effects. No two cards are exactly alike, so you’re sure to end up with unique and personalized stationery.
Step 6: Celebrate your Friends
Share your handmade cards with your friends! You can send your personalized cards on Friendship Day or save them for birthdays, holidays, thank-you cards and other occasions throughout the year. You can even hang some of the prints as artwork. You and your friends can make a bunch of cards and can swap with each other.
